When Finally, Finally Comes

Every time I read about the account of the man at the beautiful gate I see beautiful nuances. Different shades of hope beaming through a man that was lame from birth. For some reason, God always uses that disabled beggar to speak to me. Reading it tonight was no different.

Acts 3:1-8 says, ‘Now Peter and John went…to the temple at the hour of prayer…and a certain man lame from his mother’s womb was carried, whom they laid daily at the gate of the temple which is called Beautiful, to ask alms from those who entered the temple; who, seeing Peter and John about to go into the temple, asked for alms….then Peter said, “Silver and gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk.” And he took him by the right hand and lifted him up, and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength. So he, leaping up, stood and walked and entered the temple with them—walking, leaping, and praising God.’

Notice verse 8 says, ‘…So he, leaping up, stood and walked and entered the temple with them—walking, leaping, and praising God.’ Did you see that? This totally disabled beggar FINALLY got to do what he’d seen others do. He finally got to walk as he’d seen others do so many times before. For years he paid attention to their strides, pace, limps, and cadence; hoping one day, he’d finally get to…and that day finally came. The day when he was finally doing what he’d seen thousands do for decades.

The disabled beggar finally got to do what we often take for granted. The simple things like having ankles, having two feet, two legs, with no problems standing. He’d longed for those things all his life. Always watching, always wanting. Always thought about. Dreamed about. Even talked about the things he’d finally get to do…if he ever got to stand on his own two.

Can you imagine the dignity and the freedom he must have experienced in that moment? For the time to finally come when he no longer needed anybody to stand? When as a man, he could stand in all the godlikeness he’d been created for? What that must have finally felt like?

But child of the Most High, God wants you to know that your finally is finally here! The time has finally come for you to walk in all the godlikeness God has for you. Whatever and whoever you’ve been thinking about, dreaming about, and talking about…that’s in God’s perfect plan and will for your life…is finally here. And I didn’t say it’s on its way, I said it’s here. The health, freedom, peace, joy, success, and love you’ve been waiting for, has finally arrived...in the midst of a pandemic! Now child of the Most High, get up and walk into what and to who God has already prepared for you.
