REAL ISSUE: I’m doing all I know to do, but my circumstances haven’t changed much. What’s wrong?
Luke 17:11-19, “Now it happened as He went to Jerusalem that He passed through the midst of Samaria and Galilee. Then as He entered a certain village, there met Him ten men who were lepers, who stood afar off. And they lifted up their voices and said, Jesus, Master, have mercy on us! So when He saw them, He said to them, ‘Go, show yourselves to the priests.’ And so it was that as they went, they were cleansed.
RESEARCH AND STUDY
Are you ‘wenting?’ What I mean is - are you doing what the Spirit of the Lord instructed you to do even though your circumstances haven’t changed much? Be encouraged – you are wenting!
The word ‘went’ is the past tense verb for ‘go.’ In essence, while the lepers were in route or going to see the priests, they were healed. Put it this way. If you’re at a stop sign on your way to the grocery store, do you get discouraged and say, ‘Man, I ain’t ever gonna get to the store. I’m at this stop sign and I don’t even see the store.’ No, you keep going because you are on your way to the store. Well, the same holds true for your life.
If you’re in a wheel chair believing to walk again, you may not all of a sudden do as the man did in Acts 3:7-9. You may have to wiggle your toes one day, lean on your side the next, or scoot your foot less than half of an inch in a direction that you hadn’t been able to before. But get this – you are ‘wenting’ which means you are on your way!
Life is not like television where a baby is born and within the hour has grown into an adult. Your life is not that fast. You have to live, grow, learn, and do which takes time. Slow down. If the Lord told you to start that business and you haven’t made a profit yet, be encouraged – you are on your way and the money will come. If you’ve started exercising and eating right, be encouraged, you’re on your way to the body you desire. If you’re unemployed but you’re still sending out resumes, that job is on the way.
As long as you are doing what the Lord told you to do, you are on your way and it will happen. I’m sure those leprous men didn’t feel like they were healed as they walked to the temple, but as they went they were healed. Don’t stop what you’re doing. Dr. Creflo Dollar once said that it’s not that you’re not doing the right things; it’s that you’re not doing them long enough.
PRACTICAL APPLICATION
▪ Write those activities (i.e. business ventures, personal aspirations, life goals) that you know, that you know, that you know are from God. Prayerfully review your list before the Lord and ask Him what the next step is. Then get to wenting!
▪ While you’re on your way, encourage others! Send them an e-card, email, or call. Give financially and support what they’re doing.
