Created For Your World

I was reading an article entitled, ‘The Truth About Tweens and Sex’ by clinical psychologist and parenting expert, Jennifer Powell-Lunder, Psy.D.; and of course you already know what the article was about. There wasn’t any ‘new’ news and yes, those little heifers are still gettin’ it in at an unusually alarming rate.

But while reading, I remembered something interesting Tyler Perry said in his interview with Oprah when they were discussing racism in Hollywood. He said that Hollywood wasn’t necessarily racist (and not saying that there’s some of that going on); but his point was that there’s a lack of ethnic writers. The majority of writers for film and television are predominantly white; therefore they write about what they see and experience. When he said that, I knew God gave that wisdom to him because that came from a place of love.

Well, that same argument holds true with the sexual epidemic that’s going on among tweens. Those youngsters are listening to and watching a whole lotta sex as well as wearing provocative clothing because the people that are writing the music and designing the clothes are sexually immoral and promiscuous themselves. Those entertainers and designers are simply expressing who they are because that’s how they live. When I saw that, I was a bit condemned. Why? Because Mark 16:15, And He (Jesus) said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.”

The word ‘world’ in Greek means ‘ordered system or society.’ Therefore, the Lord wasn’t just talking about a spot or location but into fields and industries. Many of us were created to go into the world of entertainment which includes fashion, music and film. So when God revealed that they’re only writing about who they are, I saw that it’s time for me to do the same. It's time for me to write about being a 42-year-old celibate African-American thick, bone from the hood. Tweens and grown folk need to hear and see stories told from a sexually pure perspective and that can only come from someone who’s sexually pure themselves.

So I want to encourage you to do this; instead of judging or commenting about what’s going on, check yourself and see if it’s something you’re supposed to be doing in that ‘world.’ Instead of me huffin’ and puffin’ about them little heifers, I chose to write this Real Issue. I challenge you to do the same in the world God created you to go into.

Pray this with me: Heavenly Father, please forgive me for not taking my place and allowing other people to do what You created me to do. Please forgive me for being distracted by social media, television, people, and other pursuits that caused me to not make doing my calling a priority. Lord, I ask You for ideas, insights, concepts, the grace, wisdom, and direction needed to get into my rightful place and do what You created me to do. Thank You for being my Creator. In Jesus’ name.
