I was reading an article in the Believers Voice of Victory Magazine and in it, Gloria Copeland was talking about faith. When I turned the page there was this a picture of a mountain. Immediately I thought about Mark 11:22-26 which says,
…Jesus answered and said…“Have faith in God. For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says. Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.’
Verse 23 really stood out because it says, ‘whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea…’
Look at this oceanside mountain. Isn’t it beautiful? Now my question to you is: What if the mountain in your life is just as cute? What if that mountain is attractive, has money, and has the ability to make you feel a certain kind of way? Get where I’m going with this? What if the mountain in your life is actually a person and/or habit that you think is cute?
For instance, premarital sex. You know what the Bible says about sex before marriage, and in your heart, you want to abstain but that mountain of a man and/or woman you got is standing in the way of you being sexually pure. Or what if the mountain is a molten chocolate cake? It’s good tho…he good tho. I know but is Ike and the cake good for you? That’s what I’m talmbout. If you’d just purchased some oceanfront property and needed that mountain removed so that you could build your forever home, that mountain wouldn’t be so pretty, now would it? If you knew that your future husband and/or wife was on the other side of all fornicatin’ you doin’, you probably would stop, wouldn’t you? Wouldn’t you? I come back and I say, “Wouldn’t you?”
And that’s the thing about faith. We tend to believe we only need it when we’re trying to speak to the mountain of debt or when the devil is doing something to us. But that same faith is needed when it’s time to deal with the attractive mountains in our lives. The same faith it takes for you to believe to get your bills paid, purchase a home, or to be healed is the same faith it’ll take to keep your legs closed and to step away from the plate. And I’m not just talkin’ to you, I’m talking to me too because though my legs have been closed, my plate game is strong. So why don’t we…
Pray this together: Heavenly Father, please help me to identify the mountains in my life that I enjoy. Those sins, habits, and/or people that I think are cute. Help me to see it and them as the mountains they really are and then I ask You to help me replace them with what and who You have for me. In Jesus’ name.
