Forgiveness and Repentance (Pt 4)

Writer's picture: Staci SweetStaci Sweet

‘For the time has come for judgment to begin at the house of God; and if it begins with us first, what will be the end of those who do not obey the gospel of God?

I Peter 4:17

Continuing with I Peter 4:17, the time has come for judgment to begin at the house of God has begun. Those that have been professing Christianity but not really LIVING it, those cited in II Timothy 3:2-5 are among those that haven’t repented and these are they to which the time has come for judgment. But here’s the good part – not if they repent!

Sounds simple enough right? Yeah, uhm no. Repentance is not as easy as it sounds. True repentance is a change of heart.

I can only speak for myself because I can recall a time when after I knew I had done something wrong, I’d immediately ask the Lord to forgive me; which is fine and a good thing, in and of itself. But as I matured in the Word, I soon found out that forgiveness and repentance are two different things.

In our last issue, we discovered and even went as far as to pray that God would forgive; and He has. But remember, judgment is coming for those who haven’t repented. Yeah, you may have asked for forgiveness but are you ready to repent?

Pray this with me:

Heavenly Father, thank You for Your forgiveness. Lord, help me to understand repentance and please teach me how to truly repent. In Jesus name. Copyright © 2013 Real Issues Ministries®. All rights reserved.
