When Miracles Take A Long Time

Her testimony reminds me of John 5:5-9, ‘Now a certain man was there who had an infirmity thirty-eight years. When Jesus saw him lying there, and knew that he already had been in that condition a long time, He said to him, “Do you want to be made well?” The sick man answered Him, “Sir, I have no man to put me into the pool when the water is stirred up; but while I am coming, another steps down before me.” Jesus said to him, “Rise, take up your bed and walk.” And immediately the man was made well, took up his bed, and walked.’
When I’ve read or heard those verses taught, I understood them to mean that the man was lazy and wanted others to do for him what he could have done for himself. But after seeing her testimony, God showed me another side and that’s; what if it takes that long? What if it takes decades to get what you’ve been praying so fervently for? What if you had to wait 22 or 38 years for your financial breakthrough, your deliverance from drugs, to get married, or to be healed; would you be willing to wait? What if you have to wait for your miracle...a long time?
Pray this with me: Heavenly Father, I have to admit; I’m tired and discouraged because I’ve been waiting for so long. Please forgive me Lord for wanting to give up and for the times I tried to make things happen. But Lord, I thank You because now I know that the time I’ve spent waiting would have passed by anyway; but Lord I’m so thankful that I’ve spent that time waiting with You. In Jesus’ name.
