You Belong on Stage

In our last issue, we discovered ways to bring the Bible, the Word of God, into our everyday lives. But within those verses, Mark 2:2-5, 9, there is another valuable lesson we need to see.

And…(Jesus)…was in the house. (And)…many gathered…so that there was no longer room…not even near the door. And He preached the word to them. Then they came to Him, bringing a paralytic who was carried by four men. And when they could not come near Him because of the crowd, they uncovered the roof where He was. So when they had broken through, they let down the bed on which the paralytic was lying. When Jesus saw their faith, He said to the paralytic, “Son, your sins are forgiven …Arise, take up your bed and walk.”

The paralytic needed to be in that house, yet there was no room. And the same may be true for you. Perhaps, you’re considering a career change, launching a new product, or starting a new business. It may even be time for you to go into ministry. Yet when you do your research, you see there are a plethora of people in your same field, doing the same thing. There’s already a ton of Women’s Speakers, Life Coaches, and Authors already on the church and university circuit, doing what you do, which can, at times, cause you to feel as if there’s no room for you.

There’s Room for You

When those four men ‘could not (get into those megachurches, on those panels, and weren’t asked to be a Keynote or Guest Speaker) because of the crowd, God gave them an unusual idea along with the strength to get on those platforms another way. They bypassed the gatekeepers (marketing strategies and networks that others used) and ended up on the same stage as Jesus. But how did they get on the same platform as the likes of Joel Osteen, Joyce Meyer, Bishop T.D. Jakes, or Oprah? Proverbs 18:16 answers that when it says, ‘A man’s gift makes room for him, and brings him before great men.’

If you’re supposed to be in that place, God will lead you there. Though the way may be unconventional and out of the ordinary, you will get there. Like those men, you may not have to make videos, build your followers, offer a freebie in order to build your email list so that you can promote your product or service. Not saying that those things aren’t good, because they are. But none of those things should override the leadership of God because He may lead you to do something in junction with or apart from those things.

John 16:13,14 says, ‘…when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth…He will take of what is Mine and declare it to you.’ The word take, in Greek, means, ‘to lay hold of, carry away, seize, get back, collect, and gather’; which includes things, positions, finances, and opportunities. If you’re supposed to be on stage, you will be. But it’s going to require you doing things differently which will require you to look foolish at times. The people outside didn’t understand why four men were scaling a house. But it’s because they were following truth. Those men knew they were supposed to be in there…with Jesus. And if you will follow yours, you’ll be in there too.

Don’t try to mimic what you see others doing and don’t worry about those you see in places where you should be. There’s room for us all and if you keep doing your thing, even when others think you’re lazy, afraid, or stupid, you’ll get where you need to be; right on stage being used by God.

Pray this with me: Heavenly Father, I’m tired and I feel like giving up. I’ve tried and failed only to try again and nothing seems to be working. Even when I tried doing it like everyone else, I failed at that too. Lord, please give me the strength to continue to move forward in the vision You have shown me even when others don’t see and understand. And please help me not to talk myself out of where You’re leading me into. In Jesus’ name.
