You Know The Truth

When He came in, He said to them, “Why make this commotion and weep? The child is not dead, but sleeping.’ Mark 5:39

Here we have Jesus coming into a house full of people that are crying because they think Jairus’ twelve- year-old daughter is dead. Everyone was convinced she was; but not Jesus. Why? Because Jesus saw the truth and because He knew the truth He thought differently. Same set of circumstances, same situation, and the same people were involved; but because He knew the truth; He came into that house and said, ‘The child is not dead, but sleeping.’ Jesus saw life where others saw death.

There are situations in your life that from the outside looking in – you look a hot mess! To some, you look stupid and foolish. To others you look naïve. They think you don’t understand what’s going on; because if you did – you wouldn’t be reacting or responding the way you are. You should be cussin’ but you remain quiet. You should have snatched ole girl by her lace front; but you simply ignored the comment. There’s no reasonable explanation why your marriage and mortgage are in turmoil, but you still walk with your shoulders back and your head held high. Oh, yes there’s an explanation and it’s because you know the truth.

John 14:6 says that Jesus is ‘…the way, the truth, and the life.’ And it’s because you know Jesus that you’re living your life in accordance to His Word; whether folk see it or not. You’re not considering other people’s perspectives, perceptions, and plans for your life.

But remember this: when you’re living the truth, don’t try to convince people of it; that’s for the Spirit of truth to do. You can’t explain to people why you do what you do because if they’re not filled with the spirit of truth; it won’t make sense to them anyway. John 14:17 says, ‘the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him (the truth) nor knows Him (the truth); but you know Him (the truth), for He (the truth) dwells with you and will be in you.’

And though you may be in that situation; to a lot of people it seems as if you won’t make it. You may even be like that little girl in Mark 5:35 whom everyone has given up for dead. Everyone is telling you that your marriage is dead, your body is dead, you’re too old, you’ll never finish that project, you can’t start that business, you’ll never stop using drugs, you’ll always be an alcoholic and girl please, you’ll forever be fat. But keep reminding yourself that that isn’t the truth and like that little girl, Jesus will come in and raise your situation from the dead. Pray this with me: Heavenly Father, people think I'm crazy and to be honest; I want to go in on them Lord. I want to explain why I do what I do; but I trust You more. Help me to not even think about what other folk think of me. In Jesus' name.
