The Stones of Syria

As a Christian, you may be wondering how you can get involved or pray for the Syrian; especially after the atrocities they have been experiencing in that region since 2011. Well, let’s see what the Bible has to say. Matthew 4:24 says, ‘ Then [Jesus’] fame went throughout all Syria…’ I don’t know if you realize this, but this was one of the first stops Jesus made when He started His ministry. It's interesting that the Lord went there first; a place that is 87% Muslim1 today. But not only did our Lord teach in Syria, but the scripture says that, ‘…they brought [Him] all [the] sick [Assyrian] people who were afflicted with various diseases and torments, and those who were demon-possessed, epileptics, and paralytics; and He healed them.’ With the chemical warfare that happens frequently, as a believer, our heart wants them to once again experience the healing power of Jesus. But how can they, since we can’t send missionaries there. But here’s the thing. The Word is already there.

Jesus personally preached there over 2,000 years ago, so as believers, all we need to do is pray that the Word would be activated or in other words, be made flesh (Jn 1:14). Jesus said in Luke 19:40 that, “…if [the people] should keep silent, the stones would immediately cry out.” That means that even if martyrs and missionaries aren’t able to preach the gospel there and have to keep silent, the stones that heard Jesus’ Word over 2,000 years ago will. And just like the Lord Jesus spoke to the fig tree and it withered and just like the Spirit of the Lord hovered over the face of the waters and God said, “Let there be light!’, we can command those stones to cry out and that the light of God’s Word be activated in that region to ensure that His people get out safely. Pray this with me: Heavenly Father, I pray that Your Word would be made flesh and that the stones would cry out and get Your people out safely. I pray that Your Holy Spirit would hover over all those who hear Your Word whether by television, internet, device, or dream and that You’d give the Assyrian people the gift of Your Holy Spirit so that they can repent, make Jesus their Lord, speak in tongues, magnify You and escape that land so that they can do what You created them to do. In Jesus’ name.
